Reggae on the Grass 2019 Gets Rained Out & Rescheduled
The 2nd annual Reggae on the Grass Denver Reggae music festival was just getting started when some summer showers had other plans for the afternoon. The event was scheduled to begin at 12:00pm, with the first music acts taking the stage at 2:00pm. The first rain delay had festival goers running for cover in their cars, as a sudden downpour came around 3:00pm. After about an hour long delay, things were looking good to set back up and get moving and grooving again. Beers were poured, food was served and the crowd was starting to grow. We saw a shortened set by the Alcapones, some Denver Vintage Reggae Society, and a couple of songs by Niceness before the rain came back and this time with a vengeance.
The show was again delayed until further notice due to the risk of lightning and the obvious flooding, but after about 30 minutes into the second rain delay it became obvious that it was just not meant to be. The Levitt Pavilion grassy hill was becoming a mud pit, instruments and electronics were getting wet, and most who attendees who had endured the first delay were calling it quits after the second one. An announcement was made soon after that the event would be cancelled and rescheduled.
The 2nd Annual Reggae on the Grass at Levitt Pavilion in Denver, CO will now be held on August 25, 2019. All VIP tickets for yesterdays cancelled event will still be honored and much of the lineup will remain the same. It is not yet clear who our new headliner will be, but I am assuming that Earthkry will no longer be performing as this was just a stop on their summer tour. In a recent social media post from event coordinator, Rasta Stevie, he mentions a surprise special guest for round two. Seeing as Reggae on the Rocks 2019 is literally the day before the rescheduled Reggae on the Grass event, I am wondering if this special guest could be someone we might be seeing there as well.
