Bio

Dubskin is roots reggae/dub band from Fort Collins, Colorado, who have been performing together as a group around the state and around the country for over 10 years. The band has released 5 full-length studio albums in their time together, as well as maintained a consistent schedule of shows around the state. The band has made regular appearances at musical festivals such as New West Fest, Wakarusa, and Summer Camp, and have shared the stage with legendary reggae artists such as Stephen Marley, Burning Spear, Barrington Levy, and more.

Known for his enthusiastic presence on stage, Jamal Skinner brings his all to every performance. The band’s conscious and poetic lyrics, coupled with their trance inducing dub tracks, show you that Dubskin touches every corner of the genre with ease. It is not uncommon for them to play out a long dub version of one of their songs until the entire crowd is left in a dub induced comma, complete with a thick cloud of ganja smoke lingering in the air. Their lyrics touch on many socioeconomic and political issues aimed at inspiring movement that extends beyond just the dance floor.

Love In Spite Of…” was the band’s first studio album, which was released in 2007. It was recorded, produced & mastered by Derek Vincent Smith of Pretty Lights at Morning Wood Studio in Ft. Collins, CO. Their second album, “No End In Time” was released two years later in 2009. It was recorded by Dean Curtis at The Blue Room in Ft. Collins, CO and was mixed/dubbed by Jason ”Jocko” Randall of John Brown’s Body at More Sound 315 in Syracuse, NY. In 2011, “Release From Fear” was released under the same studio credentials as “No End In Time.” The band’s most recent album, “Light The Dark” was released in 2017. The album was produced by Cory Eberhard. Recorded by Joel Scanlon at Scanhope Studio in Lakewood, CO & by Dean Curtis at Studio 1212 in Ft. Collins, CO. “Light The Dark” was mixed by Dean Curtis & Cory Eberhard at Studio 1212 in Ft. Collins, CO and mastered by Jim Wilson at Jim Wilson Mastering in Longmont, CO.

Dubskin has made all of their music available to download for FREE off of their official website. So take a moment to ask yourself why a band might do something like that…then go download it all right now.
