Today, the world honors a sound and a spirit that has transcended borders and generations. Reggae music is more than just rhythm and melody — it’s a global force rooted in messages of resistance, unity, love, and resilience. Born in the streets of Kingston, it gave voice to the voiceless, challenged injustice, and inspired movements. On International Reggae Day, celebrated each year on July 1st, we pause to recognize reggae’s cultural impact and its continued power to bring people together — no matter where they’re from.

Colorado’s Growing Reggae Scene
While Jamaica will always be the heart of reggae, Colorado is steadily becoming a vibrant hub for the genre in the U.S. From Denver to the mountains, the roots run deep. Reggae shows are drawing larger crowds, new bands are emerging, and both local and international artists continue to make Colorado a must-stop on their tours.
Our community is passionate, diverse, and loyal — and at the heart of it all is a shared love for conscious lyrics, irie vibes, and the positive energy that reggae brings. Whether it’s a packed venue in Denver or a summer night at Red Rocks, reggae lives and breathes here in the Rockies.
